The Minimix 150 from Belle is a tip-up professional mixer. It is compact and portable for easy transportation but large enough to mix a full barrow load of concrete or mortar. It has a proven robust and durable design and an extra thick drum with quick mix paddles, as well as a heavy-duty sealed cast gearbox for longer life and full thermal overload protection.
Construction companies, hire shops and DIYers all over the globe use Belle mixers and, although they are incredibly reliable, heavy use can inevitably cause a few issues - but nothing that isn’t easy to fix!
We’ve put together a few simple solutions for the most common troubleshooting issues you may encounter with these mixers, which Travis talks through in the video below:
Broken Belt
Over time the belt can wear down and eventually snap. If you find your motor is running but the drum isn’t rotating, it’s likely that the belt has broken. This is very common and is simply caused by lots of use. Whether your mixer is electric powered, or petrol powered, you can remove the side cover on the machine and replace the belt with ease.
Broken Fan
You may find that your machine runs for a while and then stops. This can be due to the fan being broken or having some blades missing which can lead to the motor not being cooled properly and overheating after a few minutes of use. Luckily, a fan replacement is quick and easy.
Faulty Capacitor or Switch
When you click the start button, if you can hear the machine whirring but the drum isn’t turning, there may be an issue with the capacitor.
To check this, hold the start button down and manually rotate the drum. This simulates the job that the capacitor is supposed to do. If the machine starts up whilst you are spinning the drum, this suggests that you have a faulty capacitor. Again, this is a simple fix and we stock hundreds of spare capacitors to get your machine up and running again.
If the machine still doesn’t start up after manually spinning the drum, it could suggest that there is a problem with the start switch. Replacing the switch is very simple and cheap to do so it may be worth trying this before fiddling with more expensive and complex components.
Worn Gearbox
If your machine is particularly old, or it hasn’t been serviced for a while, you may hear a grinding from the gearbox. This is caused by the gears wearing down over time.
Any noises should be checked out as soon as possible to avoid causing serious damage. It may just need a bit of oil; in which case we would recommend the EP90 gear oil. In some instances a whole new gearbox will be required (HMX0538 for models up to 2000, HMX0188 for models released since 2000). Again, the replacement of the gearbox is a straightforward procedure and we have product specialists on hand to talk you through it if you are unsure.
