Everybody knows how dirty and greasy you can get from changing a grease cartridge, so we will walk you through simple steps to keep you clean while you do it.
- We would recommend some latex gloves like these ones (view gloves)
- Firstly, unscrew the head from the grease gun barrel
- On the back of the grease gun barrel there is a lever, this is attached to the piston rod inside the barrel. Pull this out as far as you can. Once the rod is pulled out all the way you should be able to lock it in place. Once this rod is pulled out and locked the barrel is open and ready to take a cartridge.
- Remove the cap from the top of the grease cartridge and then insert, open end first, into the grease gun barrel and push all the way in. Remove the seal by pulling the tab from the end of the cartridge.
- Now reassemble the gun by screwing the head back on the barrel. Press the catch plate on the end of the barrel which will release the piston rod. Push the rod back into the barrel of the gun.
- Prime the grease gun by pumping the handle quickly. With four or five strokes grease should start to appear in the coupler.
You should now have successfully replaced your grease cartridge and you should be grease-free!
